The Gorton family has been in the meat industry since the 1970's when Tony Gorton attended meat cutting school after his time in the military. In the 1980's Tony began producing Beef Jerky, wholesaling it all over the country under the name Nortog Meat Snacks. In the early 2000's Nortog opened its doors to the public and started its first retail meat market in Rockford, MN. He had since retired and his son Doug has opened a new market called Gorton’s 12/12 Meats located in Montrose, MN on the corner of Hwy 12 and County road 12.
Gorton’s 12/12 Meats specializes in fresh meat merchandising, fresh sausage from their sausage kitchen and smoked meats and snacks.

In House Products
Douglas Gorton has spent the last 20 years working with journymen meat cutters from all over the state of MN. He has also spent most of that time studying smoked meats and sausages. All of the smoked meats in the store are made in house and most are original recipes developed or modified by Tony and Doug. With the help of his brother Evan they developed an all new product called the Brat Dog.
